    Price

    Hotel is badly in need of refurbishment. It was like going into a museum- a relic of the 1970s. Room was en-suite, but bathroom was seperate from w.c. Strange arrangement. Lift was an antique specimen. Staff at breakfast were not interested in looking after or attending to guests.

    elevator didn't work, draft coming in the window, television was fuzzy and only 4 channels, ran out of brown toast, yoghurt and tomatoes at breakfast and no sausages!

    breakfast was fab!

    when we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman who's english was not great. we arrived at 2.30am and we were kept waiting a long time to get checked into room as he was flicking through a lot of papers to find our name. Hotel was in darkness and not too welcoming.

    While eating our breakfast, we were very disappointed to see guests arriving in their pyjamas and in bare feet. Surely there should be a certain standard of dress when other guests are eating.

    "As I was only changing and sleeping in room, wasnt too bad an experience, and as I was staying on my own, wasnt too concerned about surroundings. I would recommend this hotel purely on its ideal locality to the centre of Edinburgh." (107263345)

    Room was clean, extremely handy for City Centre.

    Room was VERY small, and there was very noticable leak damage down wall. Bed was hard and uncomfortable, with only 1 pillow, too far to the Reception point to ask for another pillow.Getting to the room was like going through a Rabbits Warren! up 2 flights of stairs, through a door, down corridor, through another door, up Exit Stairs and then I was at room.

    Room cleanliness poor, sound proofing was totally inadequate(road noise), facilities poor and breakfast was terrible. we will not be staying at this hotel again.

    Room very clean. Lovely strong shower. Good location of hotel

    Large damp patch on ceiling above bed. Over-powering smell of fried food in our room coming from "Chicken Cottage" next to hotel. This was so unpleasant and made our clothes etc smell. I'm afraid this has spoilt the whole experience of our stay.

    I have been allocated to a different room without knowing. WHen I arrived at the hotel someone had his/her bag in my room. They got rid of my toothpaste and toothbrush. THe assistant guaranteed that the Hotel would refund some money to cover for this loss but they never did. So if you could please get in contact with me I would ver much appreciate.

    Nothing much to add to be honest. Very basic and a bit run down but perfectly adequate for our needs.

    Nothing very bad at all just an adequate room for our needs. Towels are pretty thin and as the rooms are very high ceilinged it would be better if they cleaned the picture rails which were clearly thick with dust but you would need to be on a ladder to do so. Just felt a bit seedy and run down overall but we weren't looking or expecting the Ritz at this price.

    shower-disgusting. bath, no better. lift (3 people max) inadequate for 3/4 floors. older people would find it difficult to climb stairs. lock on door -faulty. paint flaking off door. hotel -tired and badly in need of upgrade.

    Location was excellent being close to the information centre and the bus station.

    No water pressure in the shower. The front desk lady at reception was difficult to understand and i also did not receive two messages that were left for me even though i told them i was expecting a message or phone call.

    breakfast was nice/ the room was clean and tidy. there was a lot of information booklets, which helped my friend and I navigate around edinburgh.

    The check in time should be earlier,and I did request this when i booked online, because of our early flight, but it seemed like it was over looked and not considered, and because of this I would not saty there again.Afterall you are supposed to accommodate us! Also the window in the room didnt open.

    Spacious room

    Bathroom long and narrow with glass partition for shower alongside toilet - difficult for those like myself with limited mobility to get up from the toilet and to get into the bath for a shower

    "Everything you could need for an overnight stay in central Edinburgh. You can see the Playhouse from the street outside this hotel, the location is fantastic for a night out and a bed for the night. Everything is very clean which is all you need, but remember if staying longer, its not luxourious and is a 2 star hotel, with a cracking price for this location if all you need is basics. If you are lucky enough to get a room not in the chip fat section, it would be even better. But its not too bad, because the smell is just in the corridor and stairwell, you cannot smell it from inside the room. Would stay again, if we are having a night out in Edinburgh. It has a much lower price than the other hotels in a great location." (107170186)

    Friendly staff, quick check-in, Clean comfy bed, clean bathroom/shower area, fresh clean towels, powerful shower,large clean room. Fantastic central location.

    Very tired look, in need of modernization and a freshen up decor wise. The corridor and stairwell to get to our double room (213) smelt really really strongly of old chip fat grease.

    The hotel is in an excellent location and was in walking distance to all that we were doing. It is cheap and with breakfast included you don't have to walk around first thing in the morning.

    The reception staff were a bit slow - there was several staff members present who seemed not to be doing anything yet we were kept us waiting. Our room was in the extended part, above a fast food take away - there was incredible heat in the corridor and you could smell the food. This carried onto our clothes.

    Friendly staff, central location, good price, organisation at breakfast.

    Window fixture broken meaning window could not be shut; hallway on way to room was hot and full of cooking smells due to a broken extractor which couldn't be fixed until after the weekend.

    Close to everything needed for a stay in Edinburgh. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

    The room we had was at the front and the city comes alve very early. Ask for a room at the back if you want a lie in!

    The staff were very helpful. I liked my room. I liked the warren-like architecture of the building. It was basic but that was all I wanted. I liked the hot breakfasts. It was good value for money. I slept well without disturbance.

    The radio in my room didn't work.
