    Good quality hotel near Tate Modern and not far from Waterloo Station. Oneline price included full English Breakfast.

    Did not wish to sit next to large loud TV screen at breakfast time so moved.

    "Our stay in London was definitely more successful as a result of getting a good night's sleep, which the Mercure London Bankside provided. The location itself is relatively quiet, and soundproofing is very effective. Although we didn't have dinner in the hotel, the breakfast was good and plentiful." (99058105)

    The hotel was ideally situated for the area of London we were visiting, and provided very comfortable, clean and quiet (a rarity in London!) accommodation. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

    "I called to enquire about parking and was advised that there is a small car park. Explained that one of the group was DJing at a wedding and bringing his equipment and for peace of mind required parking on the grounds so the van could be backed up against a wall. Was advised this would be fine. Was not aware until we arrived that there was only 5 parking spaces and a coach was parked across the car park. Had to park across the street and was unable to keep an eye on the van. Apart from the parking the accomodation was good." (99545112)

    "I booked this hotel specifically for a one night stop over in order to make an early train out of Waterloo. I was travelling with my daughter who is 6 and we were heading to Disneyland Paris. The hotel was within 10/15 minutes walk from Waterloo, it was very peaceful the night we stayed there and we were able to make our train comfortably in the morning. Although we arrived at the hotel after 6 p.m. we were able to stroll around to the Tate Modern, only a matter of minutes away. We were able to have dinner there and to have a wander around. Although we were not there to take in the sights of London the hotel would probably be a good base from which to get to most of the key destinations. If I were planning to stay longer than a couple of nights I think I would have wished for a somewhat bigger room." (99773795)

    The location was excellent. Within easy walking distance of Waterloo but quiet. It is very convenient for the Tate Modern and St Pauls.

    Nothing really, it was ideal as an overnight stopover to make an early train from Waterloo. Our room was pleasant, if small and we had all the facilities one would expect.

    "The Mercure is above average for the internet price, with charming and helpful staff. The room was large with all amenities including a mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities plus a king size bed which was very comforable and even my husband (who is very hard to please!) had a good night's sleep and felt refreshed and relaxed when he awoke. The hotel was very quiet, or at least it was in the part our room was in, with no noise emanating through the walls from other rooms none of the early morning door slamming, clanging and clanking and loud chatter from cleaning staff that one often endures when staying in hotels."     Charming staff and had everything I needed, as I booked on the internet which gave me a very good price, it was excellent value. The cooked breakfast was hot (as opposed to warm as in many hotels) and tasty.

    The only fault, and this may come across as a bit petty, is that the shower was not very powerful and the showerhead was immovable.

    Simple, very adaquate, and straightforward. An imaginative kitchen

    An extortionate telephone charge for a fairly long international call. The time for this nonsense in hotels is long past in my opinion, but everyone does it, or wrings one out for a broadband connection. We all have to make a crust, but situational exploitation is very distasteful, in my opinion.

    "I just stayed one night for a nearby business meeting and the room met most of my requirements (i.e. a clean, quiet place to sleep and have a shower etc.). I would like to have known about how to easily connect to the internet. In the end I gave up as described elsewhere. I arrived at 1 pm - check-in time is 2 pm and no rooms were ready so I waited in the lobby and told the check-in staff that I was doing so. I believe a few rooms became available but I was not approached while waiting in the lobby with my head down over my computer. When I approached the desk just before 2 I was initially told I would have to wait longer but it got sorted out quickly. Breakfast should be included for the price, in my opinion, as it was very basic (continental really; nothing hot available except some very rubbery waffles) and the dining area was so busy I was asked to sit in the bar area. It then took a very long time to be offered any coffee; eventually I had to ask that some be brought and was not able to obtain a second cup." (3305237435)

    Clean, quiet , close to where I needed to be.

    I could not use the wireless internet connection. The main provisions for this were through a mobile phone account and I have no such phone. I was prepared to pay for internet access by credit card and eventually found the means to do so but I was to have received the access password by e-mail or on my mobile phone. I have no mobile phone and could not receive e-mails without access to the internet! Breakfast was not good and was expensive for the quality.

    Air conditioning in the room, and blackout blinds on the window, alos ver apprechiative of having a room with a window that opens.

    Synthetic pillows - I prefer feather as the synthetic ones make my head very hot!

    "For the money, this is the nicest room I have ever stayed in in London. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet, comfortable, and stylish it was. The bathroom was nice too, but design problems made it less convenient than it could have been. Not a terribly hospitable place, it is very well located, just a block from the riverwalk, and in either direction the Tate Modern and the Globe. Walking into the West End at night was no problem either--it took about 30 minutes I would say, and the walk itself was delightful. I shall definitely stay again--unless they start raising the prices!" (3305138152)

    Excellent modern, comfortable, quiet room, even on a busy street, though not very large. Excellent location for the Tate Modern, the Globe, and the Southbank river walk.

    Inevitable inconsistencies (like dysfunctional overhead lighting in bathroom, and a bathtub-shower I couldn't stand up in because of its shoddy design)-- inevitable, that is, in hospitality-challenged Britain. The bar was very uninviting, and the service was awkward. And why oh why would the restaurant advertise a prix fixe menu, except that it's not available Fridays and Saturdays. Why couldn't they make it available? What would be the problem in keeping service and convenience consistent throughout the week? I couldn't see that kind of thing happening say in Italy. So you see the problem, even for a French-owned hotel.

    Very little. The design of the bed was attractive. The common areas appeared reasonably modern and comfortable.

    The carpet was stained, the decor dated, tired and of poor quality, the room directly overlooked the neon hotel signs and busy road. It was a very hot night and I found it very difficult to sleep - no air conditioning.

    The hotel was just far enough out from the City to be quiet but not so far that you couldn't walk in/out if you chose. The room was clean and spacious (for London anyway)

    Poorly informed reception staff couldn't tell me the correct fare for a taxi into the West End or even where the nearest shop was to buy some headache tablets

    "By London standards (which are outrageously expensive) this is probably value for money. The staff were friendly, helpful and well-trained. The location is excellent if you want to visit the Tate Modern and South Bank. There was an extremely noisy religious service going on in one of the meeting rooms when we arrived and I'm not sure this is appropriate for a hotel. The tube in the TV was failing.     Food was superb.

    I had three different types of room. Two were just about adequate but quite small. The televison had vertually no colour on one and no colour at all on the other and I could not raise the sound to actually hear it. On the second night's stay I must have had a superior room as it was much more spacious, more comfortable and the televison worked a little better.

    Spaciousness,Ameneties.Bathroom showers would be better if they also had a seperate attachment as some of cannot/do not like to wash our hair whilst in the shower.
